Purpose Statement

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Business Development, this Manager is an active member of the Corporate Business Development team, playing a critical role on higher priority business development assessments and deals. He/she will work with group leadership and other functions to identify and assess new opportunities, conduct due diligence, evaluate and negotiate potential deal structures and terms, develop valuations, and help manage ongoing relationships with partner companies. This leader will obtain: In depth knowledge of multiple areas of the medical device industry and the respective deal flow; Experience shaping and executing corporate and divisional strategy; Familiarity with all aspects of the due diligence process (market opportunity, clinical and regulatory strategy, operations and quality execution, legal and financial condition, etc); Strong technical skills including in the areas of financial modeling, accounting and tax implications, and transaction agreements and negotiations; Exposure to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities



  • Contributes to execution of the entire BD process, from initial assessment through due diligence, negotiation, and closing. Creates and maintains a sound understanding of business goals and strategies, technologies, markets, and competitive bidding dynamics.



  • Acts as point of contact for outside parties approaching BSC for partnership; identify and coordinate internal resources required to evaluate opportunities; provide guidance to leadership on strategic fit, valuation, risks, and potential structure of compelling deal opportunities.



  • Operates as principal contributor to, and at times cross-functional project leader for, a focused number of priority BD assessments.



  • Works with Finance, accounting, and Tax teams in developing financial models assessing market potential, company valuation and financial returns analyses.



  • Under the guidance of leadership: Research potential new markets / disease states and corporate partners; Seek, initiate, and build a business case for corporate partnerships; Organize and draft presentations to senior management and/or the board of directors regarding BD opportunities; Negotiate licenses, distribution agreements and acquisitions; Coordinate and manage cross-functional due diligence processes, ensuring their findings inform contract negotiation.

Subject to approval, modifies the organizational structure of centralized functions and units. Often responsible for managing a staff function of the company.

    Supervision Received

    Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are of

    Degreed, MBA preferred.
